Celebrating 20 years of photographing world cities with 20 images
In September 2004 I took the bold move and became a full time photographer. Bold, since I had recently completed a Physics degree and had no formal training in photography. However, the intention at the time, or at least the way I could sell it to my family, was that it was a one year trial. At the time I was living in London and I decided to photograph the capital extensively (the first two images below were taken in 2004). I was fortunate to be offered my first exhibition at the Blyth Gallery, Imperial College London, where I made my first artwork sales. My cousin is an architect and she made encouraging comments which clearly resonated with me and shaped the direction of my business. From that moment, I focused on London photography with the intention of selling artwork directly to clients.
Three years later I had the opportunity to photograph Paris (see clock image below) and Stockholm shortly afterwards. It was then that the idea to photograph world cities was born.
The one year trial has been renewed twenty times. Please enjoy my favourite twenty photographs over the last twenty years.
