Milan Cathedral was constructed over six centuries, starting in 1386 and completing in 1965. Comparable to Cologne’s cathedral’s 632 years of construction. The architect was Simone da Orsenigo. It is the largest church in Italy.

Anyone who has visited Milan will know the Piazza Duomo is full of people sitting at restaurants nearby or admiring the cathedral. My only hope to photograph the square and cathedral without people was to arrive very early in the morning in the summer. Arriving at 4am guaranteed a quiet space to capture this image, in 2015.
