The United States Capitol is the meeting place of the United States Congress. It is situated on Capitol Hill. Construction on the building started in 1793 and was completed in 1800. The architect was William Thornton.

It was an honour to photograph the Capitol in such serene and quiet conditions. This angle (east front) shows the statue on the top facing the camera which is more aesthetically pleasing. When photographing this image my heart jumped when a police vehicle stopped next to me with sirens blazing. It wasn’t for me. Photographed in 2018.
