TUDOR STREET, LONDON, UK
Enyo Law is a disputes-only Law firm based in London. They moved into new premises in the heart of London’s legal area and shortly afterwards I approached them with my work. London, with an emphasis on the City and legal buildings, was chosen as the theme. Four separate areas required artwork: the Reception, two Meeting Rooms and the Staff Area. POLARISAVENUE, AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS
CNA Hardy is headquartered in London and Chicago and they moved their Amsterdam branch to new premises situated next to Schiphol airport. Artwork was required to theme the space, which included an open office, meeting rooms, a private office and breakout area. The firm has many worldwide offices and so a selection had to be made. Since the Amsterdam branch conducts business across the Netherlands, I photographed another principal city, Rotterdam, in addition to re-photographing Amsterdam, to offer a greater selection of local images. Two pieces of artwork were to be positioned in a large open office, so I focused on capturing large panoramic shots which could be easily viewed across the space. The final selection included the following cities: Amsterdam, Brussels, Chicago, London and Rotterdam. All the artwork was printed on the diasec medium which was the client’s preference to suit the high-end fit-out of the offices. I delivered the artwork to Amsterdam myself and arranged a local professional art technician to install the works.
PRIMROSE STREET, LONDON, UK
Herbert Smith Freehills has headquarters in London and Sydney. After making an approach to the London office directly, I was commissioned by the Partner in charge of art to produce artwork for their reception space in Exchange House. The theme was decided to be London with a focus on recognisable landmarks. Using photographs from my existing portfolio, I was able to put together two sets of three London images that worked well together, for two separate wall spaces. The preferred medium was diasec. Due to the existence of a pre-installed hanging rail, I engaged the services of a professional art installation company to ensure my artwork could be installed using the existing hanging system.
FINSBURY SQUARE, LONDON, UK
Fox Williams had recently relocated to Finsbury Square and the space included nine meeting rooms. After viewing the rooms and holding initial discussions with the client, the content was decided to be London with a focus on the City (law and finance). Several proposals were put forward including new images of the Bank of England and the London skyline (incorporating the City). The meeting rooms had expansive walls and panoramic images were well suited to the wall dimensions. Two adjacent meeting rooms had a moveable connecting wall with the option to create a larger meeting room. This had to be considered when taking into account the artwork for both these rooms; they must work well individually and equally well when viewed as one room. This was achieved using a similar style for the content and dimensions of artwork. The final selection was black and white images for four rooms to complement the existing decor and colour images for two smaller meeting rooms. The preferred medium was diasec with a semi-matt surface to reduce reflections. Artwork was delivered by an art courier and professional art installation arranged.
FENCHURCH STREET, LONDON, UK
Based on Fenchurch Street close to Lloyd’s of London, SiriusPoint engaged my services during their relocation. Four meeting rooms had already been named by London bridges (Tower, Southwark, Blackfriars and Millennium) and so it was natural to continue this theme and propose artwork of the bridges. New photographs of Southwark and Blackfriars were taken for the project and a mixture of prints on transparent acrylic and prints mounted on aluminium were chosen. Additional artwork of London and Stockholm was chosen for internal meeting rooms, a private office and the reception. Artwork was delivered by an art courier and professional art installation arranged.
INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT FIRM
LONDON, UK
I was approached by an investment management firm based in Soho who required artwork for their Boardroom and Wellness Room. The preference for images was London. I put together various options which work well together with the existing decor and the options were put to a popular staff vote. The resulting choices were three of my favourite images of London, two of which were taken in the previous six months. After extensive editing of the Houses of Parliament image to produce a clear and timeless image, the three images were mounted on diasec.
FARRINGDON STREET, LONDON, UK
The Berkeley Partnership has offices in both London and New York. Shortly after relocating to their new London offices on Farringdon Street I made an approach regarding artwork. We collaborated on several ideas primarily focusing on artwork for the open office and a client meeting room. For further details, please click here.
NEW STREET SQUARE, LONDON, UK
Stewarts relocated from Lincoln’s Inn Fields to 5 New Street Square, occupying two floors. Engaging directly with the client and liaising with the interior designer, we established locations around the office which required artwork. Each floor had 360-degree views of London. Since artwork was required along four sides on both floors (facing north, east, south and west), I put forward a proposal placing artwork of London landmarks in positions along the corridors in which they would be viewable from the office. For example, since Tower Bridge was in the SE direction, it was placed in the SE corner of the office. This was repeated over the two floors. Additional photography of north London was required since the majority of London’s landmarks were in the south and west directions from their offices. The artwork had to be hung between glass partitions from a single screw, and so the recommended medium was canvas as it was the lightest material. The material of the canvas also provided contrast to the glass partitions. The artwork was installed just after relocation to avoid damage to the artwork.
NEW YORK STREET, MANCHESTER, UK
CNA Hardy is headquartered in London and Chicago. They refurbished their Manchester office and required artwork for two meeting rooms, an open office and reception. Prior to this project I did not own a portfolio of Manchester and so I arranged two photography trips to add Manchester to my increasing UK portfolio. After an initial discussion with my client and a site visit, I put forward a proposal with images of Manchester predominantly and one image of Chicago for reception. Images of the Manchester United stadium or Manchester City stadium were off the table as they could have been divisive! One image of the National Football Museum was chosen. Whilst editing the image preparing it for printing, I noticed the grass in the image, which was captured in winter, was noticeably worn. It was now summer time, and so I made an eight-hour round trip to Manchester to photograph the same spot, hoping the grass would be greener and fuller. Fortunately it was and the image was much improved. The client chose the diasec medium for the artwork. I delivered the artwork myself and arranged and supervised art installation.
VICTORIA STREET, LONDON, UK
I was commissioned to produce artwork for six Meeting Rooms named after London architects. The project is scheduled to be completed in stages and the examples here show the room Bentley, who designed Westminster Cathedral. The client’s office building is also seen in the image, in the building above the iconic red London Bus.
