Downtown San Francisco and the Oakland Bay Bridge. I planned to photograph this view from Treasure Island, an artificial island in the San Francisco Bay, and usually I scout out a location during the day, prior to travel during the night. I took a taxicab to the island and was disappointed to see the promenade was all closed off with railings taller than me. Not one to miss an opportunity especially for such an important viewpoint of San Francisco, I proceeded to extend my tripod but bring the legs in to make it taller. Fortunately, this was just sufficient to photograph over the top of the railings, although at this height I was unable to see the controls to the camera. Using a little guess work I managed to capture several exposures that allowed me to create this image showing the movement of the renowned low cloud flowing over the city.
